The intermediate level Kata in our system serve a unique purpose. These Kata were once part of the old Palgue system Kata. The Palgue forms were designed from Shotokan Karate and taught to General Choi, who founded Tae Kwon Do. Over the years the Koreans modified and changed them. Master Franz has spent several years studying these Palgue forms to return them to their original context. In the process aspects taken from Goju Ryu and Shotokan Karate, which Master Franz has studied for years, were added including Bunkai interpretation into the Kata. The resulting Kata were much more in-depth, applicable and extensive which they should be at this level. Kaminari no Kata is very powerful and uses lower stances than typical Kata up to this point. There are several techniques that include dislocations, throws and more advanced striking. A text download of Kaminari no Kata is available by clicking HERE.
