Tora Ichi was developed based off of the Naihanchi Series of Kata and has two separate / distinct versions. The basic version is taught to beginning students of the dojo. The advanced version is reserved only for Sensei level students of the dojo. Each version is basically the same but the more advanced version has several aspects of Kyusho Jutsu within it. This was the fourth Kata created from scratch by Master Franz for the Aiki Te Ryu system of martial arts. The foundation of Tora Ichi is to introduce new students to the Kata concept. This concept is designed to facilitate proper understand of balance, stances and technique with a new student. In the study of Kata beginning students often race through it. When studying Tora Ichi you will notice that we do not permit the racing through the techniques. Emphasis is place on each individual movement and technique to develop strength, focus (kime) and proper technique. Tora Ichi is available as a text download by clicking HERE. Although we offer these text downloads of the Kata you will notice that it is impossible to learn them through this method. Only through proper instruction can you gain the true depth of study required in Kata...and this requires class training with your Sensei. |
