Yama no Kata - Mountains

Building upon the foundation of one's skills to this point in their training comes Yama no Kata. Yama no Kata is symbolic of a mountain in which it is immovable, impenetrable and has strength developed over many years of development through the layering of sediment, which we would refer to as techniques and class study. A strong Yama no Kata is defined by the students understanding of the Bunkai and ability to have high levels of balance, concentration and intensity.

Yama no Kata is the first Kata in our system where we begin to examine the student's own martial arts skills as portrayed through their performance of this advanced Kata.
